How to Sift Matcha Tea

Place the matcha sifter over the cup or bowl you will use for whisking. Using a matcha spoon (or chashaku) put two scoops of matcha into the matcha sifter. Using the backside of the chashaku, gently press the powder through the matcha sieve until the fine particles drop into your bowl.

Add a few tablespoons of hot water into the bowl. Whisk your matcha until blended. Add the remaining water and whisk until the matcha produces a creamy froth.
